Dauwd's debut album, Theory Of Colours, will land on Technicolour on June 2nd.
The US-born, Wales-raised artist has appeared on labels like Kompakt and Ghostly over the last six years or so. The last couple have been quiet for him on the production front—his most recent releases are a 2015 Kompakt EP and a track on the compilation Ghostly Swim 2.
He returns with a debut album for Technicolour that was recorded over the course of a year primarily in Utrecht, at the Sonar Traffic studio—"which houses one of the largest collections of vintage synths and other modular equipment in all of Europe," the label says. It draws inspiration from electronic pioneers like Terry Riley and Raymond Scott, as well as Detroit house and early German Krautrock, they explain.
Dauwd is also planning some tour dates in North America and Asia, starting with two back-to-back Lights Down Low parties in LA and San Francisco on May 5th and 6th. After that it's New York, then back to Berlin before he heads off to India for dates in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. Last up is Kilo Lounge in Singapore on July 15th.
