  • IK Multimedia has released iRig Keys I/O, a MIDI controller that includes a soundcard. It's the only piece of gear currently on the market to combine a recording interface with a MIDI controller, the company says. It contains either 25 or 49 full-sized keys and eight velocity sensitive drum pads, and can run on batteries or USB power. The dimensions are smaller than the average controller, making it appealing to producers on the go, and it easily integrates with Apple products like the iPad and iPhone, which can be mounted on a stand and charged with an optional power supply. Retailers are listing the smaller model at $200 while the larger option comes in at $300. The soundcard can record in 24-bit with a sampling rate of up to 96kHz. It has a single Class A preamp with phantom power and a gain range suitable for everything from microphones to guitars and line level instruments. The output spec includes a stereo out for connecting to monitors as well as another for headphones and MIDI. Additional controls include two touch strips and five encoders. The controllers also come with a range of sounds, instruments and processing tools. IK Multimedia's own SampleTank 3, the T-RackS 4 Deluxe mix and mastering package, the Syntronik Pro-V vintage synth emulation and Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE, an orchestral sound pack, are all included. Both controllers are due out in October. Read our review of IK Multimedia's recently released synthesiser collection, Syntronik. IK Multimedia will release the iRig Keys I/O 25 and 49 in October, 2017 for $200 and $300 respectively.
