  • Modal Electronics is releasing a new drum sampler, the CRAFTrhythm. According to the Bristolian company, the CRAFTrhythm can be quickly put together without the tools or skills usually required to build DIY kits. Despite its small size, it contains eight tracks and a 16-step sequencer while up to 64 16-bit mono samples can be uploaded via an accompanying app. Each track has a resonant low-pass filter, three-stage envelopes for the amp and filter and three different pitch modes. Speed alters a sample's pitch, Stretch lets you tempo-match looped samples and Shift lets you repitch samples without altering the speed of playback. 16 patterns and eight kits can be recalled and a USB port is on board for interfacing with other devices. Pricing is unconfirmed but it should hit stores next month. Modal is best known for industry-leading synths like the 002 but entered the budget end of the market last year with CRAFTrhythm's predecessor, the CRAFTsynth. Listen to a demo of the CRAFTrhythm.
Modal Electronics will release the CRAFTrhythm in October.
