- The Chicago-rooted veteran will release music from Gavin Guthrie, Device Control and Jamal Moss on the new imprint.
Mystic Bill will release the Into The Box EP from Gavin Guthrie (AKA TX Connect) to kick off his new label, Children Of The Box.
Bill Torres arrived in Chicago in 1988 and served as a staple of the Windy City's house scene for decades before moving back to his home state of Florida. The new imprint pays homage to Chicago's legendary Music Box club, with releases fitting into a simple criteria: "Would Ron Hardy play this if he were alive today?" While the first round of releases lean toward a raw, edgy palette, Torres tells RA he's not limiting himself to one sound. "Ron Hardy played many different genres," he says. "So you can probably expect a disco or new wave release from time to time." Releases from L.I.E.S. affiliate Device Control (real name Jake Reif) and Jamal Moss alias R2 Underground will follow Guthrie's 12-inch, which is out tomorrow.
