  • Charles Cohen has died at the age of 71. Cohen was synonymous with the Buchla Music Easel, releasing a string of new and retrospective albums on Morphine Records from 2013 through 2015. In September of 2015 he was arrested in a police sting near Philadelphia for attempting to have oral sex with a 14-year-old boy. After entering a no-contest plea, Cohen was subsequently arrested and served five months in jail. He was released in July, and died on September 29th. Cohen's attorney, Scott A. Harper, told Philadelphia Gay News: "He was one of the nicest persons I've ever met. He had no ill will towards anyone, not even the policeman that arrested him nor the prosecutor. He was kind and gentle and very soft-spoken. He was the king of his field. He crescendoed too late to enjoy his recent successes. His European fans will hopefully understand his situation and remember him for the beautiful music he once created. He was good but humble. He will be missed."
