  • MUTEK has announced its latest edition: a two-day festival in Dubai in November. MICRO MUTEK Dubai, or MUTEK.AE, will go down on November 16th and 17th in the United Arab Emirates' largest city. (The venue is still TBA.) Co-curated by Analog Room owner Mehdi Ansari, the festival will bring international headliners like Jeff Mills, Dasha Rush and Francesco Tristano together with local UAE acts and artists from MUTEK's home base of Québec. "We're bringing MUTEK to Dubai because we see the deep potential and interest from people in enriching the city's music, art and digital culture, which is still in its early stages," says Ansari. "We'd also like to shift the emphasis away from clubbing and partying in Dubai and offer a new perspective on the way electronic music and audiovisual practices can be profound, inspiring and revelatory." MUTEK.AE is the latest in a series of expansions for the Montreal-based festival. A Buenos Aires edition debuted last month, while they've confirmed a US event in San Francisco coming next spring. (MUTEK also has annual festivals in Tokyo, Barcelona and Mexico City.)
