  • Logan Sama will no longer present BBC Radio 1Xtra's new grime show after a series of controversial tweets posted between 2011 and 2015 resurfaced last week. Sama was due to host the first edition of the weekly broadcast this Friday, November 10th, but today he issued a statement confirming that the BBC had decided "that I am not suitable to join their network. I understand this decision and agree that these comments are indefensible regardless of their context." The comments, which Sama described as "ignorant and offensive," resurfaced on Friday, November 3rd, via the Twitter account of BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Twin B, who quoted them in response to a tweet from Sama, posted earlier that day, that said "I'm not content with Friday. Monday is my night as well.... I'm taking that back too..." (Twin B hosts a show on Monday nights.) Sama announced the news of the BBC Radio 1Xtra show on October 30th. It would have marked his return to weekly broadcasting for the first time since 2014, when his influential grime show on Kiss FM was cancelled after ten years. He also recently held a monthly residency on BBC Radio 1. BBC Radio 1Xtra says a new presenter for the grime show, which will run weekly from 11 AM through 1 AM, will be announced soon.
