  • Wolfgang Voigt will not be playing Gas shows in the US this month due to visa issues. "[We] regret to inform you that Gas will not be able to make the trip to the United States," the German producer and Kompakt cofounder wrote on Facebook today. "After months of hard work from dozens of colleagues, we are devastated by this news." He explained that the "approved visas and passports would not be delivered due to 'technical problems,'" and his team was "left without any further information or support" from US embassy officials. Voigt was booked as Gas—his legendary ambient project, which returned earlier this year with its first album in 17 years, Narkopop—to play this weekend's Day For Night festival in Houston, along with events in Philadelphia and Brooklyn early next week. In his Facebook post, he says a New York gig has been tentatively rescheduled for March 20th, 2018. He also hopes to secure a Philadelphia date and, addressing those going to Day For Night in Houston, says that "we hope to schedule a performance near you soon." Read the full statement below. Along with the album release, this year has seen Voigt perform as Gas for the first time since 2009. Incidentally, he recently revealed a performance for his hometown of Cologne for next May. Check out the Exchange podcast from this summer which explores some of the visa issues affecting artists on tour abroad.
