- "I lost all the music I've been making. I'm starting from zero," tweeted the New York artist yesterday.
Epic B was robbed at gunpoint late on Tuesday, January 31st, losing a number of valuables, $500 cash and all the music he was working on.
The New York artist was taking a taxi through his hometown when another car crashed into it. While he was waiting for the police to arrive, he says "four people walked towards the car" who were "looking to take advantage of the situation." They took his backpack, which had in it two laptops and two hard-drives, and emptied his pockets of two iPhones and $500, which he says he "needed for a deposit on a new room."
"I always travel with my Macbook, which is my primary tool for music production, along with my portable hard drives," Epic B wrote (via his manager) on his GoFundMe page. "I brought my Toshiba laptop because I had to do some mixdowns for a client on Cubase, which I only have on my windows computer. I recently purchased an iPhone 8 on a payment plan, and was going to return my old iPhone 7+ to Sprint."
He continues: "I lost all the music I've been making. I'm starting from zero. As hard as it will be to start over, I want to try and keep things moving. Raising enough money to assist in replacing my lost equipment is the first step."
Epic B is part of a new wave of New York artists taking the city's Flex Dance Music (AKA FDM) sound global. He's had only one official release so far, Late Night FlexN on Swing Ting, which Angus Finlayson reviewed last year.
