The Untouchables are releasing their first LP, Mutations, on June 8th.
The husband-and-wife duo of Ajit Steyns and Kate McGill have been releasing records since 2008, and more recently have become regulars on Berlin's Samurai Music, helping to establish the label's distinctive brand of halftime drum & bass. Mutations "fleshes out the essential elements that have marked The Untouchables as unique, [with] ricocheting classic breakbeats and heavy-jabbing kick drums," according to the press release. It also describes their sound as "tribal rhythms drenched in dub, with characteristic nods to the breaks and rave stabs of late '90s drum & bass."
