  • Melodies International, the reissue label run by Floating Points, DJ Love On The Run, Elliot Bernard and Mafalda, is putting out a record later this month with two remixes from the late Frankie Knuckles. In the late '80s, Knuckles was called on by Island Records for multiple remixes of "MPB (Missin' Persons Bureau)," a song by the husband-and-wife soul duo Womack & Womack that appeared on their 1988 LP Conscience. Chief among Knuckles' efforts were a nearly nine-minute Paradise Ball Mix, and a shorter Folk Version that emphasizes the original's vocal and guitar. While the Folk Version came out as part of a handful of different editions, the Paradise Ballroom Mix had a more limited release, and is now highly sought-after. The two remixes have been restored and remastered from the original tapes, and will come on 12-inch vinyl with a sleeve featuring the original artwork. Listen to samples at the Melodies website.
