We've Been Through The Mill will allow former patrons to tell their stories of club nights at the arts complex, which stopped hosting music events last year.
The multi-arts space's ground-level venue, The Burrow, where the music events took place, was taken over by a screenprinting collective last year. Fat Out creative director Emma Thompson, who programmed its gigs and club nights for two years and managed the venue for ten, is inviting former patrons to submit anecdotes, essays, photos and artwork that document The Burrow's history. The project is called We've Been Through The Mill, and it will eventually become a book. The deadline for submissions, which should be emailed to [email protected], is January 1st, 2019.
The Burrow, which hosted acts as diverse as Andrew Weatherall, Jlin, Gang Of Four, Marcellus Pittman, Thurston Moore and Islam Chipsy, was threatened with closure in January last year after a noise complaint from a local resident, though the venue's license was renewed the following month. It hosted its last music event in October 2017.
