- The storied East London studio is moving to Hastings.
Mastering studio Curve Pusher is opening a new facility.
The studio was forced to move out of Hackney in East London by housing developments, but founder Lawrie Dunster describes the relocation as "a once in a lifetime opportunity to build this suite of studios from scratch."
The new site in the coastal town of Hastings will house three Neumann cutting lathes. One of these provides the rare service of half-speed mastering and cutting, a demanding, time-intensive process that provides a more stable, higher-definition cut. Two rooms are dedicated to mastering while a third is for cutting lathes. There is also the opportunity to cut directly from tape, bypassing any analogue-to-digital conversions. New material can be tracked in a recording room fitted with synthesisers, drum machines, a desk and a host of outboard gear.
Founded by producer, engineer and promoter Lawrie Dunster in 1999, the studio has worked closely with labels like ???? and Hot Creations along with key distributors including Rubadub and Juno. He is joined by Keith Tenniswood, another experienced engineer and producer best known for his electro project Radioactive Man.
