The ten-track album is out October 19th.
Four years in the making, the ten-track Trivial Occupations sees the Scissor & Thread boss departing from the concept-driven approach of his previous LPs, Minutes Of Sleep and Leland.
The new record arose from Harris asking, "How do you approach an album without a concept? Is it necessary to have a concept? This lead to all sorts of existential rabbit holes. So I decided to go back to the beginning, which was no beginning at all. It was more like living in a pure present. Just getting back to a love for making music on my own and with other people. I didn't put a timeline on it and figured it would be finished when I felt the time was right."
Trivial Occupations features appearances from a variety of musicians, such as Kaïssa and Genevieve Marentette (vocals), Leah Lazonick (piano), Will Shore (vibraphone), Greg Paulus (horns), Dave Harrington (guitar), Emil Abramyan (strings) and Robb Reddy (sax). It will be available October 19th via Scissor & Thread on vinyl and digital.
Harris has had two releases in 2018 thus far, a collaboration with DJ Aakmael called Mercy Of Means and a solo 12-inch, Minor Forms.
