- We visited the museum's expansive Turbine Hall to check out Tania Bruguera's installation.
Steve Goodman, AKA Hyperdub boss Kode9, did the sound design for a new installation at the Tate Modern in London.
The museum commissioned Cuban installation and performance artist Tania Bruguera to take over their vast Turbine Hall. As part of the exhibition, which involves a color-changing heat-sensitive floor and an invisible gas that forces visitors to cry, the Hyperdub boss installed a formidable soundsystem to play unsettling low frequencies.
The show, which opens tomorrow (October 2nd) encourages viewers "to really think about the contemporary migration crisis," Tate Modern director Frances Morris told The Guardian, "taking it from an anonymous and media-filtered narrative around statistics to a more palpable and deeply emotional understanding."
The title of the exhibition is an ever-increasing number that corresponds to "the number of people who migrated from one country to another last year added to the current number of migrant deaths recorded since the beginning of the project." It's currently titled 10,142,938.
