- The Ukrainian pianist's next LP comes out in December.
Lubomyr Melnyk will release an album for the celebrated ambient label Erased Tapes on December 7th.
Fallen Trees is Melnyk's third album for the label, which brought his music to a wider audience after decades of relative obscurity. It's "one of the most ambitious and demanding pieces he has ever created," the label explains, with contributions from Japanese vocalist Hatis Noit, Berlin-based cellist Anne Müller and American singer David Allred. "More than any of the albums that I've done, it's a real collaboration," says Melnyk.
The experimental piano player, born in 1948, is known for his "continuous music" technique, where he plays at an average speed of 12 to 14 notes per second. Read our 2015 profile of Melnyk.
