  • Intellijel has released a new step-sequencer for Eurorack. Steppy lets you send four separate rhythms around your modular, from simple drum patterns to evolving polyrhythms. While the emphasis is on real-time performance, Steppy should also appeal to space-conscious users and owners of Intellijel's popular range of Stealth cases—it's only available in the 1U format, a compact extra row that frees up space in your system by moving utility modules to the edge of your rack. Despite its small size, each of Steppy's four tracks can generate between one and 64 steps, allowing you to create overlapping, criss-crossing patterns. These rhythmic possibilities are expanded by clock dividers on each channel and control over probability, which lets you dial in the likelihood of a given step firing. In addition to shifting entire patterns backwards or forwards by step, there are options for setting swing and delaying separate channels. Rhythms can be tapped in live or programmed by step, plus there's a performance mode called Loopy, which lets you lock patterns between two steps by holding them down by hand. Learn more about Steppy in this video playlist.
Steppy is available now for $199.
