  • The final instrumental project from Alias, DJ, producer and cofounder of Anticon, is out now. The American artist, real name Brendon Whitney, died of a heart attack this past spring. Earlier this month, Anticon put out a collaborative record with vocalist Doseone called Less Is Orchestra, which featured Whitney's final recordings—and "the album they'd been meaning to [make] for twenty years." Now the Los Angeles label is releasing an instrumental version called Forever Is Orchestra, focusing on solely Whitney's production, which the press release describes as "ride-out Zelda G-funk, chopped-and-screwed IDM, emotional-industrial music and clean glitch echoing through a zero-gravity field of ice crystals." (It also states that the album was influenced by Whitney's life living in Portland, Maine and working a nine-to-five job.) All proceeds from the release will go towards Whitney's family. Listen to the album or check it out on Bandcamp.
