  • Dublin's The Wright Venue is closing at the end of January. The long-running Northside spot, which opened in 2009, will cease operations at the end of the month, according to a Facebook statement posted on Friday. Bodytonic will take over the space and open it as a new club called Jam Park. The Wright Venue says new jobs will be offered to its former employees. "The Wright Venue has been an incredible journey," says Michael JF Wright Hospitality Group head Michael Wright. "Since taking a chance and building a venue in North Dublin in the worst of the recession, we've spent a decade welcoming customers in their thousands from all over the country... I'm particularly proud that we created a safe and enjoyable venue for thousands of young people with our teen events." The Wright Hospitality Group, which operates the Wright Venue, will instead focus on its food and restaurant businesses. There's no opening date for Jam Park set yet, but the Wright Venue statement says it will happen in "the coming months." Another Dublin club, District 8, is also closing down its regular operations at the Tivoli Theatre this month. They're still in search of a new venue.
