- Hope This Finds You Well is the first of two album-length projects due this year.
Cosmin TRG has announced a new ambient album inspired by research into corporate culture, streaming platforms and labour efficiency.
Due out digitally through Fizic on February 1st, Hope This Finds You Well collects 12 ambient tracks made with field recordings, samples and synthesisers. Having looked at the ways streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Music, craft playlists to boost workplace efficiency, the Berlin-based Romanian artist began making with the same intended purpose.
"Hope This Finds You Well is my version of a 'work-appropriate' playlist—the ones peddled by streaming platforms that claim to boost your efficiency or calm you down," Cosmin told RA. "These playlists try to hijack your brain and trick it to do corporate stuff: survive a passive aggressive email chain, write a better Keynote, etc. I took corporate vernacular and tried to spin it, which in turn inspired these pieces that oppose tones, drones and field recordings to create contrast. I think the end result is an observation more than a solution, and hope it inspires reflection."
Hope This Finds You Well precedes a second album due out later in the year. Details for that one, including the title, are TBC.
