The outlet will highlight Toronto dance music, starting with a various artists EP this spring.
Ciel is starting a label called Parallel Minds with fellow Torontonians Daniel 58 and Yohei S.
The label, which will focus on music from the Canadian city, launches with PM001, a various artists EP featuring tracks from all three founders plus Raf Reza, who appears under a new alias, Radiant Aura Faculty. The press release describes the 12-inch as "house, breakbeat and hardcore to energize your body and comfort your soul."
Ciel, real name Cindy Li, has been a promoter in Toronto for several years. More recently, she also became a world-touring DJ and producer in her own right. (Read last year's Breaking Through feature on Li.) Yohei S and Raf Reza are two other noted local DJs, while Daniel 58—AKA Daniel Morales—is also a prolific graphic designer.
