  • Mexican Summer is opening two new record stores called Brooklyn Record Exchange. The indie label is partnering with Mike Hunchback and Ben Steidel from Co-Op 87 to start the new shops. The first will open at 599 Johnson Avenue in Bushwick—in the same complex as music venue Elsewhere and Mission Chinese Food—on March 30th. The second branch, will take over Co-Op 87's Greenpoint location, at 87 Guernsey Street, and will start doing business later this spring. (Co-Op 87 quietly, temporarily closed recently.) "Each store is carefully curated with a dedicated area for Mexican Summer and Anthology Recordings releases," says the Brooklyn Record Exchange press release, "as well as an eclectic mix of reissues, new music, exclusive Brooklyn Record Exchange products, movies and books of all genres."
