Meterplugs has a new plug-in called Loudness Penalty.
As streaming services continue to monopolise the music industry, producers and mastering engineers have to deal with a range of loudness standards. In order to create a consistent listening experience, the various platforms turn down loud tracks to fit a standard level—the problem is, they all use different standards, leaving engineers unsure how the music will sound across a variety of contexts.
Loudness Penalty is designed to help engineers navigate this problem by telling you how much Spotify, YouTube, Tidal, Pandora and iTunes will turn down a given track without leaving your DAW. It also gives you the ability to preview how the music will sound on each platform, allowing you to tailor your mix to suit.
