  • Melbourne will be getting a new winter music and arts event called Hybrid Festival this June. DJ Stingray and Fatima Al Qadiri, who will make an exclusive Australian appearance, are the first two headline acts announced for the multi-venue weekend put together by local promoters Le Fag, Crown Ruler and Bizarro. The festival comprises three "symbiotic side-events," taking place across June 28th and 29th, as well as the main programme on the 29th which will use a two-storey warehouse in Kensington, just outside Melbourne's CBD. The warehouse event will feature "contemporary hip hop, ballroom culture, unearthly vocals, post-rave gabber, mind-bending electro and intersectional influences of techno" with a focus on "what's typically perceived as odd or unknown." Check out some photos of the Kensington warehouse.
The bill so far also includes local acts Kotare (FKA DJ Sezzo) and Kirkis, with more artist and event announcements still to come. Listen to our Exchange with Fatima Al Qadiri.
Tickets to Hybrid Festival are available here on RA.
