  • Superstruct Entertainment, the live entertainment group backed by Providence Equity Partners, has continued its buying spree, acquiring Global Media & Entertainment's festival portfolio. Global's UK festival holdings included in this deal are Victorious Festival, South West Four, Kendal Calling, Truck, Tramlines and Boardmasters, as well as Croatia's Hideout festival. (Not all of Global's festivals, such as Lost Village, were included in the acquisition.) Global, a music and broadcast group owned by Ashley Tabor, went on a "bulk buy of festivals back in 2016," according to Gig Addict. Superstruct, the live entertainment group run by James Barton (formerly president of electronic music at Live Nation) and Paul Bedford (former financial director of Impresario Festivals), has acquired stakes in Elrow, Sónar and Flow Festival, among other festivals, over the past two years. "We have in mind a federation of festival brands. They will work together as much and as often as they want to," Bedford said last July. "There is some strength in numbers in this game." Correction: Snowbombing and Field Day have recently changed ownership from Global, and Lost Village was not included in the acquisition (Global continues to have a minority stake in the Lincolnshire festival). This story has been updated to reflect these corrections and new information.
