- The drum & bass duo's track "Cloak & Dagger" is out now.
Calyx & Teebee have released the second volume of Plates via RAM Records.
The series kicked off last month as a way for the long-running drum & bass duo to return to their roots, inspired by the dubplate culture of the genre in the '90s. Each Plate is road-tested by the duo before release in an effort to create anticipation for each new record.
"The early days of drum & bass were all about the excitement of hearing dubs out in the 'big' DJs sets and trying to ID them," the duo told RA, then going out to nights hoping you'd hear a track again and looking forward to the day when it would finally be released."
After putting out "War Dub" in May, the duo have released a new track, "Cloak & Dagger," today. The duo say it's a more "futuristic" effort compared to the retro "War Dub," and add that they want the Plates series to represent a "diverse spectrum of sounds and styles."
