  • Radar, a new club on Melbourne's Swanston St, will open next month. The venue will take over the space vacated by Lounge, which closed its doors in April after 29 years of operation. While Lounge's closure was reportedly due to redevelopment plans, Radar's press release indicates these plans have been temporarily put on hold, allowing a fresh lease to be granted for the property. Led by the team behind nearby spots Section 8 and Ferdydurke, Radar will assume the venue's 24-hour license and "continue supporting the independent music community in the heart of Melbourne's CBD." A new Funktion One system will be installed, with lighting being handled by John Fish, a local creative studio responsible for visual production elements at events like Strawberry Fields, Freedom Time and Pitch Music & Arts. Launch details are still to come.
