  • Berlin label Midgar will release a double-EP 12-inch compilation of Retina.it tracks this October. In the early 2000s, according to the press release, Hefty Records label manager John Hughes III invited the Italian duo to his own studio in Chicago to record for two weeks, with the intention of releasing the material as EPs. But due to "licensing issues" with their Italian publisher, the music wasn't able to "reach Europe in a crucial moment"—though they did manage to catch the ear of artists like Frank Bretschneider, Olaf Bender, and Donato Dozzy. Those tracks, in addition to previously unreleased material, will be released on Midgar as The Last Day Of Pompeii. The record takes up Retina.it's "origins, early history and relationship" with the eclectic Chicago label, which has also released records by Telefon Tel Aviv, Dabrye and Daedelus. The tracks have been remastered by Dubplates & Mastering, who also remastered last year's Midgar reissue of Susumu Yokota's Acid Mt. Fuji. The name for the compilation comes from the Karl Bryullov painting of the same name, which will be printed on the album inserts. Tracklist A1 Apeiron (2001) A2 Grandangolo (1999) B1 Zucchine Alla Scapece (2004) B2 P.ssage (2000) C1 Dat10 30oct (2002) C2 Fakaldo (2006) D1 China?@?House (2004) D2 Fafreddo (2006) Midgar will release The Last Day Of Pompeii in October 2019.
