- Ben UFO, Martyn, Lena Willikens and more are booked for the final run.
The long-running Make It New weekly at Middlesex Lounge will is coming to an end.
Make It New, run by MMMMAVEN (which includes some of the team behind Together Festival), was started back in 2004 as a weekly techno and house party. It's since evolved into one of the Boston area's most reliable and celebrated dance music events, taking over Cambridge's 120-capacity Middlesex Lounge every Thursday. In addition to a number of local residents, in recent years Make It New signed on artists like Martyn, George FitzGerald, Beautiful Swimmers, Palms Trax and more as quarterly residents.
The group are now announcing that Make It New will end shortly after the 2019 edition of Together. The final Make It New will feature Ben UFO on October 10th, and before that they've also booked Lena Willikens, Bradley Zero, DJ Stingray, former residents FitzGerald and Martyn and more.
In the past, they've hosted DJs from across the house and techno spectrum in the intimate Middlesex Lounge, including The Black Madonna, Jacques Greene, Helena Hauff, Avalon Emerson, Robert Hood, Honey Soundsystem and Bicep, among others.
The MMMMAVEN crew haven't given a specific reason for ending Make It New, but in a statement said, "It's been one incredible ride bringing you one of the longest-running weekly parties in Greater Boston, and nothing can be overstated about the generosity and acceptance of the Middlesex Lounge staff and community at large."
