  • Behringer's budget take on the KORG MS-20 is shipping. The so-called K-2 was announced in a Facebook post along with the message, "We hear people constantly complaining that we're announcing too early and never ship anything. This time we kept quiet." It's a reference to the German company's penchant for announcing products long before release and building buzz around products that never make it to mass production—as Synth Anatomy points out, some customers are still waiting for Behringer's clone of Sequential Circuits' Pro-One, which was announced in October last year. The K-2's departures from the original MS-20 include Eurorack compatibility, a keyless desktop design and the ability to play polyphonically with a 16-voice polychain function. The front panel otherwise closely mirrors the KORG design, running a pair of VCOs through both hi- and low-pass filters, which can be modulated by two envelope generators and an LFO along with additional sources located in the patchbay. You can also patch in external signals. There's no official word on price, but similar recent designs from Behringer have cost under $500.
