  • Sheffield record label Central Processing Unit has collaborated with System80 on a Eurorack filter module. The CPU Filter is an 8 HP version of System80's popular Jove filter decked out in the imprint's signature livery. Like the Jove, it's based on the circuit and functionality of Roland's Jupiter-6 filter, which is prized for its vowel-like, acidic resonance. It offers four filter types—24 db and 12 db low-pass, band-pass and high-pass—plus a pair of audio inputs, two lines of CV control over the cutoff frequency and another for controlling the resonance level. It's set to retail for £180 and is expected to ship in December. Known for its sprawling discography of braindance, electro and IDM, Central Processing Unit has released music from acts like Morphology, DMX Crew, Microlith and, more recently, Bochum Welt. You can learn more about the label in this feature. System80 is known primarily for bringing Roland designs to Eurorack. In addition to the Jove filter, they sell a full synth-voice combing aspects of the System 700, System 100m and the Jupiter-8, as well as a Eurorack version of the 808. You can see those products here.
