  • The UK Conservative Party has posted a pro-Brexit clip that looks unsettlingly like a party promo graphic. The "#GetBrexitDone" video quickly received criticism for using music and imagery tied to a more radical underground culture to promote Brexit, which would directly (and likely, negatively) impact the scene it's mimicking. Mat Dryhurst, Mina, and Butterz' Elijah are among those calling out the contradiction.
The 18-second video was posted on social media this morning and features a snippet of a royalty-free deep house track called "Middle" by Swedish producer Jones Meadow. The full version contains the ominous lyric, "You can't go back in and take it back," though this doesn't make it into the Tories' social clip. The music was acquired via production music label Epidemic Sound. It boasts having "the world's largest library of royalty-free music," totalling "30,000 tracks... created with the sole purpose of enhancing audiovisual productions." Read reactions to the clip from members of the scene.
Update: Designer Hassan Rahim has noted the typeface in the Conservatives' clip is strikingly similar to the one he created for LuckyMe and Jacques Greene's debut album, Feel Infinite.
Update: Jones Meadow has responded to Resident Advisor's request for comment: "Was not aware of this and don't wanna be involved with it in any way."
