- The album collects remastered material from the Portland group's series of rare Casual Rhythms cassettes.
Melbourne's Research Records will release a compilation of Elite Beat's work next month titled Selected Rhythms.
The six-piece ensemble from Portland, Oregon has been making music since 2006, although their first recordings were released as a series of three cassette volumes called Casual Rhythms between 2015 and 2018. The label describes their output as genre-less rhythm music which finds influence in Ethio-jazz, Malian blues and exotica, with a strong focus on dub effects and using the recording studio as an instrument. The collection presents remastered versions of highlights from all three tapes, as well as recutting sections of Casual Rhythms Vol. 1 into previously unavailable single tracks.
Selected Rhythms joins the diverse Research catalogue which includes Mildlife's debut album, Phase, and an entry from experimental Melbourne duo Fabulous Diamonds, Plain Songs.
