  • This is an installation called Yokomono, aka the Staalplaat Mono Erosive Surround Sound Installation. It consists of ten absolute vinyl killers: toy cars equipped with needles which drive along the grooves of LP records.

  • The sounds they are generating are then amplified via radio and collected in a mixing console/soundboard. The performers ‘behind the controls’ use these sounds to make music with. It's a bit like DJing blindfolded because the speed of the cars becomes unstable and the quality of the radio signals deteriorate when the batteries are running out. The signals are therefore unpredictable and difficult to control, which makes every performance unique and adventurous! Check it out.
