Friday 30 April marks the second birthday of Melbourne's premier breakbeat night, Fractured. Many an international has graced the decks at Fractured and they have also nurtured and grown a strong local DJ lineup over time. Now they have a new home in the recently renamed Platform 1 in the city and in their own words, " things don’t look like they’re going to be settling down" for their third year of parties.
For the birthday celebrations they have international guest dj/producer Elite Force (UK), live act Debt Collector, and the long awaited return of Breaks Ahoy. Melbourne's very own Broken pirate, Brewster B, will be running his breakbeat boat up and down the Yarra throughout the night by making use of Platform 1's boat jetty.
The party will be Elite Force's debut in Australia. In 2001 SHack started recording for tech-funk pioneers whole9yards and has since spearheaded their campaign for global domination with four massive 12”s and found support from dancefloors across the globe, as well as finding time to record for labels such as Kingsize, TCR, Thrust, Moonshine and Blue Black. Debt Collector are Melbourne own seven piece live outfit with their unique fusion of funk, jazz and hiphop, never failing to get the whole room jumping. They'll be playing the back bar at midnight. Melbourne’s original breakbeat boat cruise returns after over two years at sea. Every fractured ticket bought entitles you to a half hour trip on the ‘Breaks Ahoy’ boat with Brewster B and Pazz. Cruises operate between 12am – 4am.
Also playing will be Lynt, Dan Mangan, Thayer, DJ Mu-gen, Feigan, Rowie, Gsan, Hound, Spacey Space, Tahl, Obliveus, Blue MC, MC Direkt, and break dance crew the Funky Regulators. Entry is $25 / $20 guestlist. Platform 1 is located at Vault 8, Banana Alley, Flinders St, Melbourne.
