One of the most exciting festival events this year is the Rio Parade, however it wont be taking place as planned this weekend. The directors of the event, set for Sunday May 30 in downtown Rio de Janeiro, have revealed “[We] hereby announce the POSTPONING of the event, due to bureaucratic impediments not solved in time for the event to take place. For example, the construction of the stage in Cinelândia was forbidden and communicated to the organizers of the event last Friday (May 21st) in the afternoon, by the Câmara de Vereadores do Município do Rio de Janeiro.”
The organisers have taken special care to mention that the“- The postponing of the event was not due to lack of support from the tourism bureau, nor was it due to public security issues, as the complete security layout had already been projected and approved for some time now by all the pertinent authorities.
- The parties that were to take place before the 2004 RioParade will not be cancelled, since many international DJs hired for the event are already in the country."
A new date for the event will be announced shortly.
