  • On Friday 20 August, Brisbane’s progressive music community will once more assemble to revel in Passion, a Brisbane institution in the dance scene. In the past, Passion has featured breakout performances by DJs Sean Quinn, Phil K, Ben Korbel, Chris Fraser, Jeff Drake, Chris Tisdell, and Shane Alexander (UK). Past Passion parties have been characterised by a diverse mix of progressive house, trance and beats, with the DJs keeping the audience, punters and aficionados alike, craving more. This time round the lineup includes DJs Allan Ho, Jay P, Ian Nearhos and Charlie Biscuit. Allan Ho has a reputation for smooth progressive beats and explorations of uplifting melody. His frequent partner in crime, Jay P draws on influences from his experience exploring the international club scene to consolidate himself as a favourite on progressive dancefloors. Ian Nearhos from Sydney will share his unique cocktail of deep progressive house, combined with percussive tribal rhythms and a splash of dirty techno. Meanwhile, Charlie Biscuit likes to layer unusual fx loops over a funky pulsating bass to produce that diabolical progressive combination of “dark and catchy”. You can get a preview of his style with his Stale Biccy Remix of Infusion's "Dead Souls" here. Entry to the Underground Bar (downstairs from the Elephant and Wheelbarrow) is a very worthwhile $5 and the music kicks off at 9pm. Sounds good!
