  • Hot on the heels of the Tayo compilation comes the next edition of Beatz & Bobz with volume 4 mixed by Dreadzone Sound System. Now in their 12th year, the Dreadzone Sound System has seen many different trends come and go as well as an ever changing line up, which has ensured their sound has stayed fresh and remained cutting edge. Dreadzone were the originators of blending dub and reggae with house, breaks and ambient grooves at a time when it was experimentation, original ideas and the quality of tracks that mattered, not just the production like many believe is the case today. Having notched up in excess of 125,000 album sales over a 10 year period, mixed in with running club nights, stunning live shows, alongside support from Annie Nightingale, Ali B, Tayo, Seb Fontaine, Plump DJs and the late, great John Peel the mighty Dreadzone have left a lasting impression on their ever growing fan base. The 2005 Dreadzone Sound System lineup features founder member Greg Dread alongside latest members Ben Balafonic, the unmistakable M.C Spee (Terminalhead/ RedStar/C4 Music) and Earl 16. Soundwise the Sound System have returned to their roots, once again fusing dub and reggae with skankin’ breaks to deliver not only one of the tastiest breaks mixes around. ‘Beatz & Bobz Volume 4’ features some of the most up for it breaks party tunes around in D.S.S’ own imitable style kicking in with Mafia Tone’s ‘In The Party’, Renegade Soundwave's ‘Ozone 2004’, JDS under his ‘Paradox 3000’ pseudonym with ‘Let There Be Light’, the forthcoming Dreadzone single ‘Booty Line’ and Scam’s club anthem ‘Put Up Your Hands.’ Following this Beatz & Bobz Vol 4, expect a new single then the album, coming out on Functional in Sept 2005, alongside Dreadzone Sound System and Dreadzone live gigs dates around the UK's finer club night and festivals. The new release will be available from Monday 14 February through Functional Breaks/Stomp.
