  • The Roots hit Melbourne this Friday 5 August and you can get a double dose of their style when DJ Questlove steps out for a solo show on the same night. Hailing from Philadelphia USA, DJ ?uestlove will perform an exclusive DJ set at Honkytonks immediately after The Roots live show at the Metro. The Roots live shows are something to be seen to be believed. They combine excellent musicianship with hip hop tunes to move you. Their second tour of Australia, on now, is to promote their latest album The Tipping Point, out now through Universal. ?uestlove came to The Roots as a talented jazz drummer but has also worked independantly from the band and is know as an excellent producer. As a Grammy award-winning musician his undisputable reputation has landed him musical directing positions with everyone from D'Angelo to Eminem to Jay-Z. He boasts production credits for Erykah Badu, Joss Stone, Justin Timberlake and D'Angelo, among many others. His uncanny ear for picking the perfect song for the perfect moment has also landed him the position of musical director of The Dave Chapelle Show. When it comes to DJing this Friday at Honkytonks, he promises to once again deliver his eclectic, dancefloor friendly sounds. You can expect to hear a taste of this enormous collection, as ?uestlove delivers a mix of Hip Hop, classic soul, 80’s, rare grooves and much more. ?uestlove is the modern day mayor of soul music. No matter what the style, when he gets behind the decks, people dance until the lights come on. Don't miss this one!
