  • Tiptop Audio has released three new effects modules. Z5000, ECHOZ and ZVERB are 8 HP stereo units retailing for $200 and target the space- and budget-conscious Eurorack user looking to add depth to their sound. While the effects algorithms run from a digital chip, the internal clock is analogue, which Tiptop says helps warm up the sound. ZVERB collects reverbs from the '70s, '80s and '90s. While it contains the usual range of space types and sizes, other more complex algorithms use delay and pitch shifting to alter the reverb's character.
ECHOZ contains 24 different delay patches divided into Tape, Digital and Pitch banks. Tape algorithms can introduce saturation along with wow and flutter. Digital offers cleaner options, bucket brigade delays, multitaps and "formant topologies," while Pitch provides various ways of repitching your delay tails.
Z5000 is a new version of Tiptop's first module released in 2008. The new version contains 24 different flavours of delay, reverb, pitch and modulation effects. It also contains some multi-effects patches that run a pair of effects in series.
The new modules follow in the footsteps of Tiptop's Z-DSP effects unit. Read a review of the device here. Learn more about the new modules on the Tiptop website. The modules will be in shops by the end of the week. Watch a promo video for the new modules.
