  • The team behind threatened Berlin club Griessmuehle is staging a protest in Neukölln tomorrow afternoon. Running from 3:30 PM until 7 PM, Save Griessmuehle – Kundgebung is the club's latest move in its fight against closure, which could come as early as January 31st, when its current rental contract expires. The meeting point is Rathaus Neukölln, the club's local town hall, where the district assembly sits. The Griessmuehle team has clear demands on the club's current owners, SIAG Property II GmbH and S IMMO Germany GmbH. These include clearer communication, a fair sales procedure and an extension of the rental contract until construction starts. (The owners plan to knock down the club and build offices.) Joining the public at the event will be local politicians, activists and journalists, many of whom will be giving speeches. Among the speakers are Berlin Club Commission's Lutz Leichsenring, Neukölln's mayor Martin Hikel and writer Dr. Christine Eichel. Check the full programme, and sign the petition to save Griessmuehle. Yesterday, Cocktail d'Amore, one of Griessmuehle's flagship parties, revealed that the current landlords had cancelled its final event at the club, originally scheduled for February 2nd.
