  • Big Yawn will release their debut album No! via Research Records on March 6th. The four-piece experimental electronic outfit from Melbourne preceded the LP with last year's Skinrat / Thomas 7-inch which also dropped on Research, which is co-run by Sleep D's Maryos Syawish. No! continues the group's live jam experimentations which find influence in krautrock, footwork, post-punk and UK bass, as well as artists like Golden Teacher and Inga Copeland, according to the label. "It's four guys in a room toying with instruments, trying to make music that causes our heads to bob up and down, to perspire," the band said. "'No!' is a term frequently employed in the studio—the louder, the looser, the more laconic it's said, the bigger the laugh it gets. The joke is that NO actually means a yes—it's a breaking balls Type B expression of camaraderie, a refusal to take shit super serious like." Listen to "Thomas."
