The LP was inspired by the natural beauty of a park near Mullaert's Swedish hometown.
Natthall is named for a bluff on top of a ridge in the Söderåsen National Park, near Mullaert's home of Röstånga, Sweden. He visits the park to reflect and meditation, and the music on the LP was inspired by the changes in landscape he's noticed during his visits.
"Nature is an expression of patterns: trees, water, the weather," Mullaert says. "This mix of everything, bubbling away, feels very vital. Improvised music has the same power. It has all these different phases and beautiful moments just spring out."
The LP features a collaboration with a Swiss orchestra born out of a concert at the Tonhalle venue in Zürich. The tour for Natthall will feature an orchestral ensemble, debuting at Malmö Live Konserthus on April 25th.
Mullaert is known for his live performances, and has been touring a dynamic group act called Circle Of Live with a revolving-door lineup of collaborators.
The first single from Natthall, "Ascending Of A Spotless Bird," comes out February 14th. The full LP will be released on April 3rd via the classical label Neue Meister Recordings.
