- Japan residents Ken Hidaka, Max Essa and Dr. Rob —who throw the monthly Lone Star party in Harajuku—teamed up for the 13-track set.
Ken Hidaka, Max Essa and Dr. Rob have put together a compilation called Oto No Wa (Selected Sounds Of Japan 1988-2018).
For the fifth entry in its Collector's Series, Music For Dreams has tapped the trio of Japanese diggers, known for their long-running Lone Star party at Bar Bonobo as well as individual pursuits. (Hidaka is a music industry veteran, Essa has been putting out records and DJing for well over a decade and Dr. Rob is a recognizable name from websites like Test Pressing.)
The collection spans from the Japanese "furniture music" and BGM movements (Yoshio Ojima) to the late Japanese electronics genius Susumu Yokota to current acts like Coastlines, who combine fusion, library music and bossa nova rhythms.
