  • Matthew Dear is well known to those who thrill to minimal music. A heavyweight in the international minimal techno scene, Dear is an incredibly talented producer, rooted deeply in the sound of Detroit techno. His songs are built on shuffling beats, subtle, addictive melodies and cut-up vocal hooks. Amazingly diverse in his production, he is responsible for minimal bombs like 'Sink the Ship' and 'Beginner's Luck', the instant techno anthems 'Kisses' and 'Anger Management', through to catchy songs featuring his own vocals like 'It's Over Now' and 'Dog Days'. Matthew Dear has released tracks under his given name and a range of aliases including Audion, False and Jabberjaw on the tech labels Spectral, Minus and Perlon. Besides his widely acclaimed artist album 'Leave Luck to Heaven' and 'Backstoke EP', Dear is hot off the back of his new album under his Audion alias on Spectral Sound entitled 'Suckfish', as well as a number of stellar remixes including the club hit 'Geht's Noch?'. Dear's tracks are also on the recent compilations of Ricardo Villalobos' 'Taka Taka' mix CD, Richie Hawtin's 'Minimize to Maximize' and Damian Lazarus' 'Families Mix'. The tour marks Matthew Dear's first visit to Australia, so it's something to get excited about! Tour dates are shown below. Playing support at Glitch will be Simon Caldwell, Matt Aubusson and Dave Choe, while at Honky's it will be JP Larue, Mike Callander, Aram Chapers.
