- Out now, the five-track record was created using equipment found in his old studio's hallway.
Phil Moffa has released his first solo EP on his own imprint, Butcha Sound Records.
Comprising five tracks, Gems In The Garbage follows the two LPs the New York artist released on the newly launched label at the beginning of the year. The new record is titled after the samples Moffa used to compose the album, as well as the gear used, which he discovered in his old studio's hallway.
"As the repair shop on the first floor changed locations, they were tossing out things they didn't think were worth bringing with them, and I scooped up whatever I could," Moffa says. "This included obsolete samplers, rompler rack synths and broken effects units that were repaired and brought back from the dead, and now are some of my favorite pieces."
The EP is the first installment of Moffa's planned series of solo releases, which will arrive bi-monthly on the label.
Phil Moffa is the owner of Butcha Sound Studios, and head of the Butcha Sound Records imprint. Earlier this year, he minted the label with two ambient albums totaling five hours, Meditations For Peace and Pieces For Painting.
