  • This year's Ultra Music Festival in Miami will not go forward as planned due to fears around the spread of the coronavirus. According to a Miami Herald report, the festival organizers held talks with Miami's elected leaders and decided to postpone Ultra for up to a year, effectively cancelling the festival that was due to run from March 20th through 22nd. Details of the deal are still under wraps as legal teams figure out the length of the delay, among other terms, according to the Herald. Prior to the city's meeting with Ultra, Miami's mayor Francis Suarez stated he wanted to cancel the festival in the wake of the spreading the coronavirus, officially named COVID-19, which has been detected in 16 states so far, including Florida. There's no word yet on whether other events during Miami Music Week will be affected by the decision. This is the latest dance music event to be cancelled in the wake of the virus's worldwide spread. Last week, northern Italy closed venues and locked down towns, while many other clubs, parties and festivals across Asia have been cancelled or shut.
