Brianna Price's new five-track EP, Portra, is out on May 1st via Samurai Music.
UK-based Canadian producer and presenter Brianna Price's new project takes influence from fast techno and jungle. The first Baby T EP, Portra, will be released on May 1st via Berlin label Samurai Music. It features five versions of the title track with jungle and ambient mixes, as well as edits by Homemade Weapons and Ancestral Voices.
"Baby T is an alias that I am breathing new life into," Price says. "Originally, my name was Baby Traits (as in baby 'features'—I was 18 when I started touring in North America), and as I began to get more DJ bookings within the jungle community, I abbreviated Baby to B so that the name was more androgynous, to prevent the unnecessary attention and bad-mouthing I got whenever people found out I was female."
"In a sense, it's a reclamation of my original alias—I played faster back then: hardcore, drum & bass and jungle—and that's where I'm going back to with Baby T," Price adds, "but this time I'm not 18, and I have zero fucks to give."
Last August, Price released Rest, the debut single on her ambient label, Paciphonic. In 2018, she put out the People's Nation EP on her other label In Toto.
