The Berlin government is providing €30 million in emergency grants to private institutions across the city.
The fund is part of stage four of the city's emergency aid program, and it's intended to help museums, nightclubs, orchestras, cabarets and more weather continued closures under pandemic lockdown, making up for lost entrance fees. The money will be doled out on a case-by-case basis via application, and it will be given out as a grant instead of credit.
As Pollstar reports, the Berlin Clubcommission's United We Stream initiative has already raised more than €370,000 for clubs, donations that can also go to paying part-time nightclub employees who would not be considered under the grant.
Germany currently holds a nationwide ban on clubs, theaters and cultural sites until July 31st. Events with 5,000 people or more are banned until October 24th.
