  • Julian Shay, co-founder and MD of legendary imprint, Kingsize Records, has announced he’s leaving the company to set up new label and management company, Adrift Records. When quizzed on his departure, Shay clearly outlines his motivation is spurned on by artistic endeavour as opposed to any bad feelings towards Kingsize:
“After 10 years and 100 releases with Kingsize it’s just time to move on. The industry is really exciting at the moment as it’s in such a dynamic phase and I think a new, dynamic company is the answer with a completely fresh outlook on musical attitudes and mediums. I wish Kingsize all the best with what they do in the future”.
Shay leaving will have a huge impact on Kingsize as veteran artists Chicken Lips, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Phil Kieran and Elite Force will be moving with him. Adrift will not only encompass a wide variety of sounds, running Lot49 and Thrust Recordings, for Meat Katie and Lee Coombs respectively as well as a management arm and a PR & Promotions Wing headed up by Dean Muhsin will all take up time in the labels daily diaries. In the pipeline are new singles and remixes from Meat Katie, Chicken Lips, Dylan Rhymes, Elite Force, Audiofly, Hardfloor, Infusion, The Freaks, Josh Wink and 20:20 Soundsystem. Albums are penned in from Chicken Lips, Meat Katie and Elite Force. The label will be accompanied with a new radio show on MOS radio and a new London club night.
